A stacked tripleheader in Japan is now without its centerpiece attraction. BoxingScene.com has learned that reigning junior flyweight titlist Felix Alvarado is forced to withdraw from his planned title unification bout with unbeaten Ken Shiro. Their two-belt fight was slated to take place Dec. 23 in Yokohama, Japan, but Nicaragua's Alvarado is no longer able to go through the bout after failing to shake a lingering ailment which plagued him even prior to opening training camp according to a report from Telenica/Canal 8's Levi Luna, who was first to report the development.

Hey Koba. Yea it will not be a top opponent imo. Its prob best they reschedule it. This was one I was really looking forward too also.

Thing is these end of year Japanese cards are kinda like a traditional thing and a bit of a big deal over there I think and they always try to get the top Japanese stars fighting. If Inoue hadn't have had the WBSS I'm sure he woulda been on it too (he headlined cards on 12/30 in both '16 and '17). Anyways upshot is they'll probably try to keep Shiro fighting and they probably won't be shy about throwing a bit of money at it, but it's still a big ask to find a good opponent at that kinda notice, no matter how sweet the pot.

Yeah 12/31 is my birthday and it’s also the biggest Boxing Day in Japan. I typically set my alarm for 3am(ish)

Yea New yrs is always a big boxing day in Japan. The card though this year is not good imo outside this fight. If him fighting would push back or cancel this fight then I would rather him not fight. I really think any opponent they could get would be a big dropoff imo. I really like Shiro, and REALLY want to see him vs Kyoguchi. Would also like to see him move up and fight Tanaka too, or even the top 2 staws(whose names I wont butcher).

Yea it would not surprise me at all if they found someone to keep him on card. Its boxing, which means business before sport, but I just HOPE it don't push back the Alvarado fight. Yea Shiro v Kyoguchi is one of the best fights in boxing imo. Not sure right now who I would pick in that one, maybe Kyoguchi, but would have to break them down to really have a pick its that tough imo. How do you see it? Or fight with Tanaka? For me same as 1st not a real strong opinion again, maybe Tanaka. I do think Shiro beats the 52-0 guy, and the other undefeated Thai, but think that's a tougher fight. Its always been a bit ch to spell those Thai names, and then soon as you think you got it, they change it lol.
