Comments Thread For: Wilder Applauds Fury's Efforts To Market Himself Through WWE

Deontay Wilder has yet to witness Tyson Fury's foray into pro wrestling, but certainly doesn't hate on his heavyweight divisional rival for exploring another form of revenue source and marketing his brand.

Fury is now the most well known HW in the world. He's incredibly famous in the UK now, he's been all over mainstream TV/Radio for weeks.

That's what happens when you base your career in a foreign country. I don't know the official figures, but I'd bet more people paid for the privilege of staying up 'til dawn in the UK to watch Fury than those who did the same at a more sociable hour in the USA.
Who's the bigger fool; Fury who's getting paid multiple millions per-fight, or Arum/ESPN for paying those millions and not being able to market their fighter properly?

That's a possibility. Boxing as a sport is certainly more popular here in the UK on a fan-population ratio than it is across the pond.

Being in America nearly my entire life now, I agree to a certain extent.

But seeing as how casual UK fans seem to be just as largely uninformed as american casuals, in addition to the fact you guys eat up whatever slop your promoters serve you- I'd say UK fans are "crap" as well.

Supporting any trash card that comes about Doesn't make you a quality fan, it makes you a sucker. That's why we as boxing fans worldwide only get the truly great 50/50 superfights (WHEN THEY SHOULD HAPPEN) once in a blue moon.

I disagree. Fans at boxing events are a good thing for the sport, regardless of the circumstances.

If everbody refused to go to a show unless it was a 50/50 superfight, the sport would die in no time.

I don't think that's what he meant. (He's not encouraging people to only buy tickets for awesome cards and super fights). But, there is a fine line, and I agree with his point that when fans of any sport are willing to she'll out big bucks in support of garbage there is zero incentive for promoters to make the great fights, as there is risk their Cash cow fighters will lose. Blame goes to media and fans who abandon support of guys over 1 loss. But to original point, it's like Chicago sports. The Cubs packed Wrigley Field every game since the early 80s, despite being horrible most of those years. In 2009-2014, as the economy tanked, so did attendance...which had been unthinkable prior to that. The new owners invested into the team in every facet, to improve it, and won the world series after 108 years. If fans had never stopped coming, I'm not sure that would've ever happened. Same thing happens with the Bulls...the arena is always packed, so the team remains a joke...I guarantee if 1/2 the stadium was filled, we'd see changes real quick. As fans our only defense against subpar fights, is to refuse to pay for garbage...i.e. don't be suckers.

Wilder's entire boxing career is as fake as WWE and so it's cruelly ironic, embarrassing and pathetic that the WWE has no interest in hiring Wilder to bring his fake act to pro wrestling.

Wilder is a protected fraud pretender hoax and such a joke even the WWE doesn't want him!
