  • Comments Thread For: BoxingScene Pound for Pound Update: November 2019

Give it time and the results can pile up and make something as fanciful as pound-for-pound ratings hard to think through. What matters most? Is it recent form, career resume and accomplishments, or the pure hypothetical guess work of what would happen if everyone was the same size? Seemingly everyone has a different answer and that's as it should be. It would be cool if there was a magic machine to, say, pit the punching power of Naoya Inoue against Deontay Wilder in a relatively equal fight.

It's not a bad list, but I have some serious issues with the order of some of the rankings. Inoue had a good victory, but I don't think it enough to put him at #1. Alvarez at #2 is laughable, he was a huge favorite over Kovalev for a reason. Why exactly is Lomachenko falling down the rankings? He's done nothing but dominate his opposition, and only controversy was his KD vs. Linares 4 fights ago. Crawford falling I can understand. His recent comp has been rather soft, and he's not as active since he's being frozen out by PBC. It's a shame for a fighter of his stature. Spence has no business to be that high. He got by Porter with some controversy.

            Agree with the rest.

GGG clearly lost his last fight with Chenko but was given the nod for obvious reasons. not sure he should be lb for lb now as he is really slipping because of his age. alvarez would probably beat him in a rematch but we all know why alvarez is so high on the list and it's a shame IMO.

Terrence, Canelo, and Loma are #1-#3.

                Inoue is #3/4.

I'm fine with the rest of the lost except GGG. He's off the list. You cant have it both ways saying:

"Ignore the official scores - GGG beat Canelo. Twice!" Then say..."Official scores have GGG beating Dervenchenko...". Everyine except fanboys know damn well Dervenchenko won that fight...

And Josh Taylor is definitely #6-#8 imho.

Why is Spence still rated so highly? His best accomplishment was not killing someone during a DUI...

Inoue is not better than Canelo, Lomachenko, and Crawford

The list is an insult to boxing

It took over 20 years before anyone unified like Usyk and Crawford. That's not subjective, IT'S FACT!

If Lomachanko successfully unifies lightweight all 3 will have accomplished what nobody on your top ten could .

Ignoring the significance of that level of historical achievement is an insult to boxing and an insult to Holyfield, Pernell Witaker and Kostya Tszyu.
