Comments Thread For: Daniel Jacobs Discusses Split With Trainer Andre Rozier

For Daniel Jacobs, the hardest part about fighting Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. might be just making sure the Mexican fighter successfully steps inside the ring come Dec. 20 in Phoenix without making any mistakes along the way. The unpredictable Chavez Jr. (51-3-1, 33 KOs), who made his return in August after a 27-month layoff, is still facing fallback of his missed VADA test from last month, and he's one hiccup away from letting the fight slip through his hands.

Rozier is a **** coach. He makes all his boxers into stinkers. Danny needs someone who'll get him to throw more and stop fighting like Ward.

        DAZN money makes people split.
I'm waiting for the Canelo-GBP split.

In a recent interview, Rozier was a bit more direct on the situation.

“Danny has to do what he has to do, I’ve got nothing to say about Danny. As far as I’m concerned, I’m done with him. He hasn’t been good to me. I treated him like he was like my son. Sometimes you have to let them go,” Rozier told Michael Woods of Ring TV.

“Money changes some people, not all people, some remain the same. I never wish any bad to Danny, love the kid, but I don’t like him anymore. Now, no prima donnas allowed.”

DAMN! Very Sad! I'm riding with Andre Rozier! Danny must be feeling himself! Chris Colbert, Richardson Hitchins, time to take the throne! BK Let's Get it!

But don't worry, he won't be signing with Al Haymon if that happens..
              I guarantee that!

                On a serious note

No human can be perfect but some people just try harder. Danny is an all class guy that's introspective, intelligent and honest, a role model. If he were a teacher, lawyer or played soccer he would still be the same person of high values. This is not to say he is perfect or won't make mistakes because he will but he holds himself to a high standard and it shows.

As for Rozier, I respect Andre but sometimes a person is left with tough decisions and none are good or easy. Both had a great run and both made good money. Danny has small children to support and may only have a few fights left and he needs to make the unenviable choice between Andre and his children. What Danny makes now will need to last him and his family a life time and for that reason I give Danny the benefit of the doubt....because he earned it.

Win or lose, in or out of boxing I will be a Jacobs fan.

For the record, I'd like to see him stop fighting and take a studio job commentating.

I disagree, I respect Andre's position but Danny has small children to support and he only has a few fights left and that income needs to last a lifetime. Danny is a loyal guy and I suspect he is making the unenviable choice between Andre and his children and for that reason I give Danny the benefit of the doubt because he earned it. Rozier will recover and go on to training the next big thing but Danny is near done.

Don't get me wrong, I don't condone changing trainers like Oscar but when I see long time trainers, promoters and fighters break up at the end of their career to make as much as they can before it's over I am certainly more understanding.
