Comments Thread For: Wilder: Luis Ortiz is Avoided By Many - I Don't Avoid People!

WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder took some by surprise when he revealed that he would defend the title against previous victim Luis Ortiz. The rematch will take place at MGM Grand in Las Vegas on November 23 in a bout that has generated interest in boxing circles partly because Wilder survived hazy moments in their first fight in March 2018.

120 mill for 4 or 100 mill for 3 fights and you declined. Thats the biggest avoidance Ive ever seen.

Nah...Wilder don’t avoid anyone - just the top 10 for years and years prior to Ortiz 1!!

I predict less than 200K PPV buys, but expect the PBC shill/publicist Coppinger to have it tracking above 300K by Monday morning.

$50M + 50% revenue for 1 fight is much worse, especially when the excuse given is that you want to fight at home in Europe "for the fans", and then get exposed in America (by a 5 week replacement) anyway.

Wilder is going to get slaughtered on this one. Ha

Hes the only fighter who continually tells social media in advance he isn't going to fight someone prior ,forget AJ ,whyte Klitschko and the rest what about Usyk being to small but he challenged his own brother at Cruiser weight and wanted Bellew instead of AJ in 2017 ? WOW....Ha

The whole 5 week replacement wasnt exactly someone who just came off the couch. Ruiz had just been in a training camp and was coming off a win where he had not taken any damage and stopped his opponent. Ruiz was still in fighting "shape" and is a good fighter (I think he beat Parker). You act like Ruiz was some chump off the street or something, kid. As for his "excuse" about fighting in Europe...you act like the UK wasnt responsible for his massive following. I'm not a huge fan of AJ but dont act like Wilder had this huge following in the U.S. Hell, he's only getting popularity recently. As for the 50 mill offer, everyone is still waiting to see that contract AND not the email. Nice try though kid.

Whyte ran away from Ortiz. I would love to watch Ortiz vs Fury, sounds like a good fight.

Good ole wilder. Always telling it how it really isn't. His resume suggests he has pretty much avoided everybody. And who has avoided Ortiz?
