Comments Thread For: Elwin Soto Wins Tough Decision Over Heno To Retain WBO Title

Elwin Soto returned to the venue where he won his first major title, having to survive a stiff test to retain that status. The defending junior flyweight titlist rallied in the second half of his 12-round showdown with Philippines Edward Heno to take a close and competitive unanimous decision win Thursday evening at Fantasy Spring Casino in Indio, California.

Soto didn't have enough boxing for the Philippine guy who gave him hell. Close fight could have gone either way.

Soto got the well deserved W because he worked three minutes of ever round. Heno was game and did great work when he let those hooks and uppercuts fly, but he spent too much time being wholly defensive and not throwing punches.

Cards were very fair and even generous to Heno, who I thought would end up only winning a couple rounds.
