  • Comments Thread For: Beterbiev, Ramsay Reflect on Big Knockout Win Over Gvozdyk

Last Friday in Philadelphia, Artur Beterbiev became the first boxer in Quebec to unify world titles when he stopped Oleksandr Gvozdyk in the tenth round to join the WBC, IBF light heavyweight titles. Beterbiev remains humble in victory. He will now celebrate this new belt with his relatives in Russia. Although several names have already begun to circulate, the new unified champion will make a mandatory defense of his IBF title against mandatory challenger Fanlong Meng of China early next year.

Not a Ramsay fan feel Bet is a beast he didn’t mold him for years. All his excuses with Lemiuex who he did train with horrible fundamentals. Until he molds a champ on his own I think Ramsay overated

He molded Pascal... And he has been a champ a few times.

I'm now convinced that Beterbiev is the best at 175 after that fight, it's just so bloody frustrating how inactive he is.
To paraphrase one of our typical UK sporting chants; is he Gary Russel Junior, in disguise?

Haymon's probably the most hesitant promoter out there, most of his best fighters seem to either have massive periods of inactivity or have to wait a dozen fights too long for a title shot.
Can't wait to see more of Beterbiev if you're right on Arum getting him out more often - as long as their well matched fights and not fringe contenders. I've heard its Meng Fanlong next as IBF mandatory. Hopefully afterwards it's Bivol or Kovalev (Canelo won't go near him if he beats Kovalev) before Zurdo's WBC mandatory shot.

Pascal vs jack is for the WBC 1. I believe zurdo is wbo 1.
