Because Berchelt is just Santa Cruz, satisfied in paychecks and fighting bums while ducking the best.

Berchelt is ducking Herring, but he isn't as bad as Santa Cruz. Atleast he fights other good fighters and not the #130

I dont understand why Berchelt wouldnt take the fight either. Arums invested some marketing in Herring so its not like hes lacking promotion. The style match up is also sellable & intriguing. Not to mention is a unification.

Funny thing is he has the best resume at 130.

Stylistically, Berchelt is tailor made for Herring. Herring would box and move early, then start settling in the mid to later rounds. I've known Herring since he was a junior open amateur. I was there when he wanted to quit boxing. He got knocked out by Danny Jacob's in the juniors and it hurt him more mentally than physically. But his trainer at the time convinced Herring to give him 3 more fights to change his mind. Herring won his next 3 fights by stoppage, and the rest is history. Jamel catches a bad rap from people, mainly boxing fans because they dont know how hard he has worked to get to where he is. The unification will come with another title holder but not right now. Just some of the info I remember about my favorite fighters that I know, has made them the examples of what true champions are. Dont sweat it Jamel. It's coming.

I like Berchelt as a fighter but this is obviously a duck. Same promoter affiliation too which is a shame.

We rarely get unification fights in this sport whether it's because of not "crossing the street" OR even if both guys are on the same damn street. There's always some bullshˇt angle for it not to happen.
