Have Canelo and GGG beaten any decent top boxer convincingly?

With Canelo, I think the only top boxer he beat convincingly is Jacobs. And perhaps an over-the-hill Cotto. He lost to Mayweather. Went life and death with Lara and GGG twice and could have lost the three.

GGG's only convincing win against a decent boxer that isn't a catchweight is David Lemieux. And Lemieux is pedestrian.

I'm a Canelo fan but the way people act like Canelo just walks through his opponents is hilarious when the small glass-chin Khan actually outboxed him for about 4 rds before getting knocked out cold. As for GGG: his whole resume is padded with overmatched smaller average boxers and he's the only boxer I know below cruiserweight that fought his whole career in one weight class - weird. And he lost both the Jacobs and Dervy fights.

Dude you’re just a Canelo hater. We all know GGG beat Gabor Balogh convincingly. It took a while, but he did it!

      WAR BALOGH!

all of those were close fights he didn't dominate any of those fights, I was at the trout fight to see it myself, the crowd cheered for anything canelo did even when it didn't land. it was close but canelo won, I haven't seen him dominate any top competition to be honest

WTF are you talking about man? What about gggs KO percentage? It’s 100 percent when fighting bums and 0 percent when taking real competition

I think canelo beat Lara clearly but all the chearleading the showtime crew did had an effect on a lot of people's minds. The Trout fight was a lot closer than the Lara fight. Same could be said with the ggg fights and all the cheerleading Lampley did for ggg. Although the first one was really close the second one competitive but clear for canelo.

Honestly it's just the double standard on GGG. Some people hate him just because others like him, I think it's really that simple to be honest. Although others like Canelo too, you just don't really feel same fandom around him as GGG, at least online. And it just kills them for some reason. Before the Canelo and GGG fights, I said something similar. Their resumes were basically same in terms of quality opponents but the same people who hate GGG didn't seem to mind with Canelo. I remember someone back then going so far as to say he should go up to 175 to fight Kovalev for no other reason other than to challenge himself. What a ridiculous idea. I guess some people just feel the need to be antithetical in passion toward those who others love, which is definition of a hater. And right now, you're seeing something similar with Lomachenko. The same people who hate him have no issues with Tank Davis for example.

Dude, GGG has totally dominated boxers who were founf a few days before the fight drinking at the bar down the street. Totally crushed Norm from Cheers types his whole career.

GGG has zero dominant wins of top names.

But I agree on Canelo too.Has a couple convincing wins over top names, but a lot of very close fights with top names.

The big difference is that Canelo has challenged and is challenging himself. Kovalev at 175 is an insanely risky fight to take.

GGG dominated a ton of top 10 middleweights like Murray, Macklin, Geale, Jacobs, Stevens and Canelo in their first fight, its just that the casual turds in this forum dont know shi. about boxing. Also GGG was the most avoided fighter and made a ton of top tier fighters run for the fences and not just drop their panties but also their belts.

Canelo, Sturm, Abraham, Sergio Martinez, Carl Froch, Cotto, Quillin and many others are on the Avoided GGG in his prime list.

Kovalev is a risky fight and I give him some credit for that. But if the discrepancy in hate between GGG and Canelo started today, you'd have a point but it's been going on for years. Canelo didn't challenge himself almost at all after Lara or maybe Angulo until he fought GGG. And it's true, he didn't convincingly beat any high ranked opponent he didn't have a weight advantage over much better than GGG. But the same guys who hated GGG for years never voice the same applicable criticisms toward Canelo, Jacobs, Saunders or anyone else really.
