  • Comments Thread For: Golovkin-Derevyanchenko Scorecard Analysis

If ever the term "scoring could go either way" was applicable to a fight, it was Saturday's thriller between Gennadiy Golovkin and Sergiy Derevyanchenko. The irony is that while the judges' final tallies ran in one direction in awarding Golovkin with a unanimous decision, how they each arrived at that point clearly illustrates the subjective art of round-by-round scoring.

Golovkin needs to go after early KO's. He is too old to be going 12 and giving the other guy an opportunity to break his old a.ss down. He also cannot fight these better fighters the same way he did Rolls, Wade, Monroe. Golovkin comments after the fight seems like he understands this.

it was a very close fight that could have gone either way

just like the first Canelo/Golovkin fight

it is hilarious that Golovkin fans finally understand that

why do you need to smack them in the head with a bat, to prove it hurts?

Everybody knows it was a close fight I think GGG put himself in that position by not using his jab more like he did in the past with Sanchez especially like he did in the first 2rds. After that everyone saw he wasn't as active with his jab he tried to be cute an work his new teachings from banks by comin inside with head movement but we all saw if he had set things up with his jab an jus threw a stiff jab like he did in the past this should've ended like the lemeiux fight its jus him tryin to follow banks. He needs to work with banks an realize he doesn't need to weave his way in jus use head movement when he's in the pocket with someone then stay in his comfort zone the mid-range with his jab age his hands ain't fast as he wants them to be he never had fast hands anyways so he needs to realize like he doesn't need to stay inside the pocket to long if his opponent has faster hands so he jus needs to go back with his basics an work off his jab then set up everything from their including body shots.

Triple Gift was trying to KO this guy, he was loading up on big shots, throwing wide telegraphed shots a foot off targets, which Derevyanchenko easily slipped.

His trainer was trying to tell his dumb ass to let his hands go and the KO will come, not to load up on single shots.

He should have never switched trainers. Just because he was outboxed by Canelo who is a superior fighter. But its a coping method, to blame the trainer, when you lose to a superior fighter. Triple Gift is too old now to change his style.

You here that fellas, close fights aren't robberies. This is no different than GGG Nelo 1. Could go either way but the judges have the final say. Do it again to prove who's better

I had good seats and used binoculars. My sense was a razor thin win for GGG or a draw. Kudos to Matchroom. Great night of live boxing. No boring fights IMHO!

Well with the switch everyone keeps forgetting GGG is tryin to save up his own $ an buildup his own promotion company but I personally don't see it working. I don't think he realized with the percentages sanchez was making from training him their gonna go up with him making more $ but GGG hearing from his lawyer or new people in his ear tryin to help him with the startup are telling him to keep at the same rate with sanchez or jus find a new trainer thats cheaper. GGG I don't think needed the switch either but banks is sorta helping him out with new things but GGG needs to work on using his old techniques an new techniques from banks to help him take less damage like any trainer would want. Sanchez wasn't switching anything up which we saw in the 2nd fight but GGG only switched trainers because of $ really not because of the lost GGG is tryin to be businessman as well as be a boxer which is hard to do but he's getting the most $ he's ever had also because in his deal with DAZN he's getting a percentage of equity from the company so that was smart on his part to buildup his brand
