That’s a fine selection of Euro bum belts on show. Anyone would think this a Frank Warren card.

How can Jazzer fight for the EBU-EU trinket when Britain opted out of the EU?!

Britain's still geographically a part of Europe, man. The similarity in names has nothing whatsoever to do with the roles of the two organisations - and in fact the EBU (1948) predates the EEC (1958) that evolved into the EU by about a decade.

EDIT: Actually I stand corrected, kinda misunderstood the point of your post - I guess it's a timing thing - technically if we're still in the EU on Friday (and whilst we're currently due to be out in 29 days I ain't taking nothing about this farce for granted) then it should be for the EU belt, if we ain't it should be for the EE belt apparently... I'm not quite sure which of these deeply coveted trinkets is considered most prestigious, however, or whether Jazza will be stripped if we leave on the 31st..

The European Boxing Union (or EBU) is a pan-European governing body that sanctions championship bouts in professional boxing. The EBU governs the most-prestigious continental title in Europe, the EBU European Championship, in addition to their EBU EU Championship for competitors from within the European Union and the EBU EE Championship for those outside the European Union.

Though it is clear that both pale into insignificance when compared to the mighty European Championship.

Yeah, not sure why (some) people are opposed to it. Those are competitive fights and the winner of these tournaments is close to a contender level.
It's a good opportunity to advance their careers.

Holyfield did something similar last year. The tournament had Santana, Felix Diaz, van Heerden, Schwarzkopf, Lawson, Nasiyiwula, Solomon and Gallagher. Good competitive fights, but the tournament didnt go past the quarter finals unfortunately.

The 140 MTK Golden contract tournament looks solid.

Exactly. Helps build names for the guys who win or make an impact. Its basically a UK Boxcino.
