Comments Thread For: Billy Joe Saunders to Face American Foe, Says Hearn

Billy Joe Saunders will have an American opponent for his US debut in November, although Eddie Hearn, his promoter, has repeatedly denied rumours that he would be facing Gabriel Rosado. Saunders, the WBO super-middleweight champion, will be defending his title at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on November 9 on a bill topped by internet celebrities Logan Paul and KSI.

Rematch with Willie Munroe? He's an American in WBO top 15 at 168. Assuming they're not looking at unification with Benavidez or Plant then there's very few floating around the top echelons but not in WBO top 15. Truax is one; Quillin and Dirrell are too soon out of their last fights though, plus the latter will need a few months for that cut to heal properly. Dennis Douglin and J'leon Love are not good enough for a title shot. After these you're looking at unbeaten/untested prospects like Sims Jr, Ballard, or Carlos Munroe - and they're not yet at the right level for a title shot either.
They could widen the talent pool by getting someone to come up from 160, or down from 175; there's better American boxers overall at those weights than at 168.

It better be Andrade! If not, Billy Joe Saunders and all his trash talk is totally meaningless because he hasn't beaten a decent boxer in years. I wish he would just go back to hillbillyville and leave pro boxing to more dedicated individuals.
