Errol Spence Jr. doesn't think he has gotten under Shawn Porter's skin by continually calling Porter a dirty fighter. The way Spence sees it, Porter knows that better than anyone the WBC welterweight champion has fought. "I'm not the first person to call him dirty," Spence said Tuesday on a conference call. "I'm sure about that. Everybody knows. I don't know if he's a dirty fighter, but he has a dirty style. So, I mean, a lot of elbows and things like that. I think if he's a realist, he knows he's dirty. So, it works for him. He has to do it for a reason. So whatever works, he doing it."

Is Shawn Porter dirty, yes. Is he intentionally trying to be dirty, I'd like to think not. Rather it's intentional or not, doesn't matter. Dirty is dirty. That being said, it's a fight. Do whatever it takes to win. If Shawn Porter goes in there being dirty, and wins, Errol won't get the luxury of saying, "he dirty, it don't count." It doesn't work like that. If he gets dirty, guess what, get dirty back.

Hopkins did it. Ward did it. Teddy Atlas used to always talk about behaving like a fighter. A young Mayweather was the perfect example of this. You got dirty with him, he didn't complain, he found ways to get you back. Errol Spence needs to behave like a fighter and find ways to get Porter back.

I believe the dirty commentary by Spence and his team is intentional to get in the refs head and not Porters. They want to make the ref aware of it more. But the ref knows already. It is similar to a coach and a player in another sport pointing out stuff before a game so it’s watched more by the referees.

And it’s reverse psychology by Spence and his team. They are trying to persuade Porter to fight a clean fight, LOL! But Shawn has to fight his fight and win by any means necessary. That’s his only shot.

I wouldn’t say he’s dirty but his style is definitely more physical than most welterweights are used to.
Normally 147 pounders are pick and pop counter punchers. Porter likes to stay in your face and keep it inside.
He’ll do well early but eventually Spence will figure out his timing and tee off.

That was an honest assessment of Porter by Spence, and I don’t see how Porter is oblivious to not seeing how he smothers the effectiveness of his own punches by rushing in like a bull on PEDs, sometimes with no rhyme or reason as to where he wants to land his punches (I’m not saying the brother is on PEDs).

Porter does have the “proclivity” to get wild with each and every one of his opponents, and it’s because his pops is stuck on the philosophy of having to out hustle each and every opponent.

Porter ‘does’ plan to overwhelm Spence by supposedly discouraging him by unrelenting pressure. Why rely exclusively on that(?) - is there really a plan B?

Spence is just as big as Porter, they both can be considered as weight bullies in their division. Porter can’t do to Spence what he did to Broner & Berto, unless of course Spence has big time difficulty making weight at this age.....

Spence is 100% right. Porter can be wild, just like how he himself got wild when blowing out Chris Algieri. Porter is just a bit more crazier, because he’s taught to be.
