Comments Thread For: Spence's Coach: We Have a Game Plan To Knock Porter Out

Derrick James, the head trainer for IBF welterweight champion Errol "The Truth" Spence, explained that he put together a game plan to score a knockout victory over Shawn Porter next Saturday night at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Porter will stake his WBC welterweight crown in a high stakes unification, which is being carried by Fox Sports Pay-Per-View.

Lets completely ignore the point that it's obvious he was trying to showcase his boxing abilities and not going for the KO against Mikey.

Apples and organes completely. I'm not saying he's going to kO Porter but this is a bad comparison.

Really excited about this fight. I'm a fan of both fighters, but in this scrap, I'm going with Errol Spence Jr. I like his style of fighting. Very technical southpaw, with a good jab and decent footwork. Throws nice, crisp combination, goes to the body well and seems to have a good chin and excellent ring IQ.
And outside of the ring, both guys represent the sport as they should. Never heard or seen anything negative about them in the press.
Porter has good skills as well, good jab, pretty versatile fighter, rugged, good chin. Pacquiao's chief sparring partner for some time.
Spence didn't knock Garcia out....true. Doesn't seem like he wanted to, if you watch the fight again. He dominated Garcia. From start to finish. Garcia was in survival mode, it's hard to knock a fighter out in that mode. People just want to find something to nitpick with Spence. He won the fight. CLEARLY!!!!!

This fight has the potential to be of the phone booth wars of my era in boxing in the 80s with the 4 horsemen

Sounds like you're saying lets make believe Spence wasn't trying to knock Mikey out. Strange but ok...I'll go along with the gag.

I don't believe for a second that Spence wasn't trying to KO Garcia, it simply wasn't there. Not a nit pick, a fact that every trainer on the planet would agree with.

Naw! Take the easy-route bruh! box him! The first PPV was a stinker, so expectations for Errol making this fight exciting are pretty low, its really up to 'Showtime' Shawn Porter to bring it.

BS talk. fight is going the distance and Spence expects to win on points. The "we have a KO game plan" is EXACTLY what he said about Garcia.
