Is Tyson Fury history's heavyweight champion? There is room to debate because of his inactivity or on-again/off-again retirement announcements. In the purest of terms, he remains the man who beat the man and he hasn't lost since. If Fury wins Saturday (ESPN+, 7 PM EST) as he is highly expected to, it will be the fifth time he has defended his station.

For me, Fury is the lineal and true heavyweight champion of the world.
And this is a 12-rounder. Today, the world title distance is 12 rounds.

Still, the feeling about this bout is like going back to the 1920s something.
No matter who wins. A non-title bout between title defenses.

I can tolerate promoting the lineal thing, even though he was out of action and basically retired for well over 2 years. But calling the Seferi and Pianeta 10 rounders “defenses” is a stretch of the spirit of it all. If Loma fought an non title fight vs some fringe name and still happened to weigh in at 135, no one would call it a title defense.
