Comments Thread For: Lomachenko Fever Sweeps Through The UK

By Tris Dixon - UK crowds have famously-turned out for big names over the years. Sonny Liston, on horseback, bought Newcastle to a standstill decades ago. Muhammad Ali stopped traffic. Mike Tyson caused people to scale buildings and rooftops to catch a glimpse of him. Johnny Tapia had fans queuing round the block to see him go through the motions. Marco Antonio Barrera was mobb...

Overrated hypejob, these writers are so pathetically biased towards Loma & his overrated resume of C level he struggles with. Never has any fighter besides maybe ggg been so overhyped for beating opponents nobody gave a chance to & ggg kod them at least (even though they were worse or at best the same level as lomas british domestic level opponents) , Campbell was like a 20-1 dog ffs. Crolla was a brain trauma victim, chinares, tiny old rigo, gtfoh with this bs about entering the matrix,or loma being an atg for starting his career old af,& having arum bribe sanctioning orgs to rank cherries #1

Cornball little guy cherry picking and now trying to unify a weak a** division. Maybe if he fights Ramirez or the Prograis/Taylor winner or Berchelt I would care.

I hear Loma will go to 140 when Spedce goes to 175.

Seriously mate...get to know boxing before commenting like this. Embarrassing. We love Loma in the UK because we respect genius wherever it comes from.

As a Brit, I think British boxing fans do get too star struck for outsiders and it's really pathetic sometimes since the same fans tend to tear down home grown talents they overhype once they fail. Then you can also make an argument that there's a huge Eastern European population in the UK and the bulk of those fans might be Eastern Europeans. However, when it comes to boxing and other sports, apart from football, cricket and rugby - there's no real loyalty amongst Brits to homegrown talents. And it's shameful because this pattern has been there for a long time. It's just pathetic. Seeing the fans at the o2 shouting Loma's name when Campbell needed all the support in the world was bizarre and it just shows how ****** a lot of Brits can be.

And don't get me started with the British press that act more like fans than journalists and their uncanny fandom of foreigners in lieu of homegrown talents. It's one of the reasons why the most successful Brits in individual sports tend to move to other countries once they get to the top (Lewis Hamilton and Rory McIlroy are good examples). And it's also the reason why Tyson Fury left for America when the opportunity came and why AJ took his next fight to Saudi Arabia. They will build you up to tear you down - no loyalty whatsoever. Saturday should've been Luke Campbell, not Lomachenko.
