According to salty GGG fans, Canelo should easily stop Kovalev.

I don’t think canelo will “easily stop” kovalev, but there’s definitely a reason why canelo is picking kovalev and everyone knows it.Comment

If that fight is at full 175 Canelo will have my full respect when he wins, any catch weight or rehydration clause and the fight means nothingComment

It’s not a Straight Cherry pick but Kovalevs Initially a 4-1 underdog for a reason , But I’d say Canelo and his team view Kov as low hanging fruit that’s still somewhat ripe and Canelo will probably be able to get Kov out of there
This is a typical Prime marketable fighter getting to most likely scalp a known name that isn’t the same fighter they were but not yet considered shot , a win will be viewed as more impressive then it actually is and raise the young fighters stock more then it deserves to be risen
This is a AJ/ Klit , De La Hoya / PAC , Dela Hoya / Chavez , Marciano / Louis type of fight
Kov isn’t anywhere near the Aging fighters I mentioned historically but Canelo has proven he isn’t anywhere near where PAC , Dela Hoya or Marciano rank historically either.
But fans / media will hype up and make a big deal and claim it’s a win for the history books that Canelo had to jump 2 weight classes and get a strap something so few have been able to accomplish ( even though 2/5 of his last fights were fought above MW ) and had to beat most likely a future HOFer to do it and he’ll probably be viewed as a top 3 P4P afterwardsComment

If its at the full LHW it is a very dangerous fight. Yes Kov is past prime but he still can fight. Hope it happens, why not...Comment

Am a Kovalev fan, not a GGG fan and I think Canelo stops Kovalev. I had this whole discussion a couple of days ago with a few posters on here, why do people think every poster is bothered with these sort of little games? Some of us just want to come here and not cheerlead any fighter. We are not all stans who pick and choose based on who we like, we actually leave emotions out of things and pick who we think would win.Comment

I think u about nailed it for any unbiased fan. I just don’t want it to be detracted by any weight stipulations.Considering canelos already kinda an average size MW, moving up to LHW and taking on anyone with a pulse i feel like is commendable. Might not be as jaw droppping as canelo groupies are making it out to be, but its a notable accomplishment .
That being said, Kovalev is being chosen for a reason. the reward outweighs the risk with him at this point, he looked absolutely finished down the stretch in that ward rematch. In the alvarez fights kovalev has looked notably less sharp and more susceptible to being hurt badly. hes clearly a fading champion, and canelo wants his scalp on his resume. thats just the reality of the situation. hes not facing the world beater that kovalev was 5-6 years ago. but kov isnt quite yet RJJ level washed upComment

That’s the thing that shocks me here, I have been called a Kovalev hater, GGG hater/lover, Joshua hater/lover, Wilder hater/lover, because people are looking for something to pin on you. They don’t believe anyone can make a straight up pick or actually cut the way they see things right down the middle.
The British things am not patriotic because I pick foreigners over a Brit, the American think am a nationalist because have accused their fighters of ducking etc
How about me just cutting it like I see it without any sort of bias? I mean I was criticised for not defending Whyte over his drug thing “Because all the fact are not coming out” by my fellow brits, then when you talk about wanting to wait and see what happens, the other side would accuse you of “Listening to Eddie Hearn”
I mean I just laugh at these people now really.Comment

They are working overtime trying to convince everyone this is a cherrypick and Canelo should easily stop him
