    Comments Thread For: Hughie Fury: Beating Povetkin Gets Me Respect, I Want The Best

    Hughie Fury believes Alexander Povetkin's style is "perfect" for him as he prepares to take on the Russian danger man for the vacant WBA International Heavyweight title at The O2 in London this Saturday, shown live on Sky Sports Box Office in the UK.

    Hughie bleeds too much. I never saw his brother squirt blood like him. I lay money, Povetkin will be drenched in gore when this is over. Hughie has some skill, but his skin isn't holding up.

      Fury is sure coming back soon after his fight of the year with Peter...50/50 fight though.

          I’ll watch it, but I really don’t understand the point of this bout. If Hughie can beat (fake) former champion Povetkin, what does that prove? Will he then be a legit contender in hardcore eyes? I think he is being groomed for an eventual tick-over fight for Whyte/Usyk/AJ (pending Dec7 results). I don’t see Hughie having a 50% chance in any of those matchups. What if Povetkin turns back the clock and pulls it off? He has to know his boxing mileage is running low. I don’t think either current champion (Wilder/Ruiz) would consider Povetkin as a draw, and will grant him a mega payday (especially Wilder). Maybe Tyson would throw him a bone and defend his imaginary belt, but if not now then why later. I think Povetkin is through, if not in reality then in spirit. With that being said I got Povetkin by TKO9 and both fighters will continue to wander the HW landscape aimlessly

            So should both just retire?

            It's a fight between two top 20 boxers. Those fights always have a point. Winner moves up in rankings, loser doesn't.

                I really dont give Fury much of a chance here, I believe it will be a vicious KO for Povetkin with 5 rounds. Fury will not have the power to gain the respect from Povetkin, and Pobetkin will walk right thru anything he throws. Bad matchup for Fury.

                  Fury: "I’ve had a bit of bad luck in previous fights but this is the time for me to shine and show people what I’m made of."
                  ===============

                  Unless this is a talk for appearances, if a fighter dismisses his 2 losses as a bad luck, I would expect to see a third one pretty soon.

                  And if only he fought somebody on the level of Shwartz... Fury is elusive runner so I wouldn't necessarily expect Povetkin to KO him, but I'm concerned that Povetkin might be robbed.

                    Hughie aint beating povetkin. He will try and stink the place out like he successfully did against peter. His style for a heavyweight, only tyson can pull that style off... hughie simply isnt that good.
