Comments Thread For: Anthony Yarde: 100% Confident I'll Pull Off - Beat Kovalev!

Anthony Yarde says it is "surreal" that he is boxing Sergey Kovalev for the WBO light-heavyweight title on Saturday night, having watched the Russian win a world title on television before he had even taken up the sport. The 28-year-old Londoner faces Kovalev in the Russian's home city of Chelyabinsk on Saturday. A late starter in boxing, Yarde boxed only 12 times as an amateur, stopping all his opponents, and has earned his world-title shot after only 18 professional fights.

I feel there are serious holes in Yardes game and even a messed up Kov is good enough to expose them, especially in those early rounds. Im convinced Yarde is getting his chin tested early. Im really looking forward to this cuz ive been waiting for somebody to ask Yarde the type of questions Kov will. Yarde may well shut me up and pass with flying colours, i hope he does. But im not convinced.

What i dont want to see is Kov take full control, handle Yarde easy then just gas after 5 or 6 cuz he isnt a good trainer and is a drinker then for Yarde to take over, win the fight and then be lauded for beating a monster. I want Yarde to win and be impressive.

I could see your second paragraph coming to fruition. I’d take it though, I’m nervous for him like I know him!

My prediction is based on this. However, I want Yarde to prove me wrong! As GGG tested Canelo, maybe Yarde will give us a great show and put all his intestinal fortitude on the line. If he beats Kovalev, I expect Yarde vs Canelo as a mega fight!!

What channels are really going to televise Yarde pulling off then beating Kovalev? Sounds a bit niche interest

Could be the night that Krusher looks old. He's got the added pressure of fighting in front of his countrymen and sometimes that can lead to funny things happening. Yarde seems to be in a great place mentally and a shock beating of Kov in Russia would make a great watch. #ItsPossible

U can almost bet that yarde will gas out due to russian skullduggery. Something in his water, something sprayed on his belongings, something in his food. Something or the other that he has no idea about. He thinks everything is ok but its not. Dumb move to go to chelyabinsk...

Late arriving luggage? No hot water in his hotel room??

The Russians are trying to mess with him.
