It's one fight, and a good offer. It's not going to hurt the brand they are trying to build too much. Go pick up the big payday, in a very winnable fight, unify, back to Fox/Showtime or whatever, and continue your run there.

If the only way you or I can see certain fighters we want to see or certain match-ups that are on only DAZN or ESPN+, etc, etc, it is up to us to decide if we want to pay to not be left in the dark. To each his own. There are great fighters and match ups on all the networks.
If paying is the only way I'm going to see ALL the fights I want to see, then I am paying. No 1 or 2 networks is going to offer me the gamut of fights. I am biased against missing the fights I want to see and I would expect everyone else is too, whatever the cost is for serious boxing fans who can afford it, so it is what it is. For me to get the full boxing treatment in life, the ensemble of each collective a la carte source, then I need DAZN, ESPN, ESPN+, PBC/FS1/Showtime.
The point is, many people are biased against those networks for the wrong reasons and want to see them fail for the wrong reasons.
For WBSS there hasn’t yet been a single fight that I felt compelled to watch live. I’ve caught up on Usyk. But when they came right back with cruiserweights 2, Electric Boogaloo ... wtf man, we just established the pecking order in that division.
Same as you, I’ll pay for what I really want to see. I’ll get the PPV for Wilder vs Ortiz and Fury rematches because both first matches were compelling fights. But I won’t plop down $100 a year for dazn because to date, honestly, it doesn’t give me value worth the money. I would let an entire month or two go by without watching a single fight — for that level I will take the free TV shows just to get my boxing fix and watch classics on YouTube.

It definitely seemed to be helpful to Andy who was nobody from nowhere to most people til he won a fight on a platform no one watches.

Is Ellerbe admitting they wouldn’t win that “Purse bid”? Because if they agree with that suggestion then they should win the bid and Tank wouldn’t have to fight on an app “no one watches”
And two why does he care if no one watches the app? If his fighter is getting paid career payday then why not?

Idk about this doe. I get his point with wanting max people to wanna see your fighter fight live. There is definitely a value to that although idk that its easy to put an exact number on it. To suggest its all about the purse is short sighted & as I see it wrong.
Ellerbe has zero point here, none but excuses and am not willing or ready to entertain those.

If you are not that confident that you would win the purse bid then let your fighter take the fight on that s hitty app. Become a two belt champ, take those belts back to showtime/fox.
