Marciano knocked men out of the sport.

    Retired immediately after fighting Marciano:

    Lee Epperson

    John Edwards

    Jimmy Weeks

    Humphrey Jackson

    Jimmy Evans

    Harry Haft

    Pete Louthis

    Carmine Vingo

    Eldridge Eatman

    Gino Buonvino

    Joe Louis

    Lee Savold

    Jersey Joe Walcott

    that's 13

The following would go on to have five fights or less after facing Marciano:

    Tommy DiGiorgio

    Bill Hardeman

    Gilbert Cardone

    Gilley Ferron

    Artie Donato

    Joe Dominic

    Pat Richards

    Phil Muscato

    Johnny Shkor

    Harold Mitchell

    Willis Applegate

    Bernie Reynolds

That's 12 who retired five fights or less after facing Marciano.

So, 13 inarguable direct to retirement wins. 12 speculative retirement wins. total of a possible 25 retirements wins, that's more than half the man's win, and more than half his KOs.

One thing is for sure, if you fought Marciano you probably didn't have much of a career afterward.

    More than an 0.

Floyd Patterson would be one of the few guys who was a young Heavy with no mileage on him and would have had a great career win or lose. Floyd was around 185 pounds around Marcianos time ,heavyweights aren't so easy to pound on now.

Floyd P lost to Joey Maxim though.
Another testament to Sugar Ray's greatness.
He was way ahead of Maxim till the brutal heat and tv lights got to him and the ref.

Jersey Joe and Joe Louis were ancient when they fought the Rock.
Heck, Joe was already retired .
Jersey Joe was already 37 when he beat Charles.

Marciano only fought a dozen guys above 200 pounds. Patterson went on a 24 fight win streak and it was only his second year as a pro in that loss . Patterson took a good beating from Liston and still went on to win fights even against Ali , Patterson was outweighed by like 30 pounds I think in one of them.

I didn't know Floyd won a fight against Ali. He didn't.
They only fought twice and Ali was only 21-0 the first time.

He fought a lot of old guys and guys who weren't his size. He had a pumped up record like any undefeated fighter with long win streaks.

I didn't say he won, im going by the thread suggesting Marciano retired many guys but they weren't in prime . He made it like Marciano was mowing down elite fighters, he never met a Patterson ,Ali or liston he missed them .

EDIT- I was late, nevermind my BS

                  Reckon you misunderstood Redeemer.

When i first read it I was like wtf, Floyd didn't beat either guy. Then I realized what he meant was Floyd would go on to get wins after Ali and Liston whooped that ass. So even though Floyd got whooped he was still a pretty damn good contender in the larger era.

                  If I got him correct

I kind of went out of my way to focus on numbers and probability because youse guys always claim we Marciano fans over glorify.

So, please, explain to me how I made it seem like he was doing anything other than retiring the men he retired and pointing out most anyone who ever fought him didn't have much career after him?

How do you get elite or bum out of that bud? That's insane you realize. You're like....super sensitive to any form of maybe some Marciano praise, you do realize this right? And it's on full display for the whole forum to see....you're simply put; a bit of a *****.

I gave the names of the men who were beaten and then pointed out that's more than half his wins and half his KOs, that's most men how ever faced him retired.....how is that anything but just simply the fact of the matter? Where do you get elite?
