Comments Thread For: Marcus Browne: Canelo Don't Want This Smoke At 175-Pounds

NEW YORK If Canelo Alvarez eventually fights at light heavyweight, Marcus Browne doesn't expect to appear on the Mexican superstar's list of potential opponents. "Canelo don't want this smoke, not this smoke," Browne said following an open workout Wednesday at Gleason's Gym in Brooklyn. Alvarez was willing recently to move up from middleweight to light heavyweight for his next fight for a shot at Sergey Kovalev's WBO 175-pound championship. Negotiations didn't result in a deal, though, and Alvarez's handlers are attempting to finalize a deal for Alvarez (52-1-2, 35 KOs) to make a mandatory defense of his IBF middleweight title versus Ukraine's Sergiy Derevyanchenko (13-1, 10 KOs).

Shaolin, no disrespect, but why wasn't Bivol on your radar? I'm just sayin'!

What's the point of Browne being WBA interim if he doesn't want to challenge Bivol?

browne is right! clenelo doesn't want that smoke not with him or the other top light heavyweights! clenelo won't ever say a peep about the other champions at 175lbs including bivol who fights on the same platform and has been calling him out to a fight. clenelo was only interested in kovalev because he's old and past his prime and they wanted to weaken him further with a catch weight! I'm glad kovalev told clenelo to *** off! all boxing fans can see what clenelo is trying to pull and it's pathetic!

because your false god and idol gaymon won't allow him to fight bivol who is on a rival network! browne is going to suffer because gaymon has zero control and power over the light heavyweight division! browne needs to leave and join Top Rank ASAP!

Canelo has no business at 175 but he's going to get called out regardless. He went to 168 to fight that scrub fielding and then it was known that he was trying to negotiate with old run down Kovalev. So they're going to have to expect all of the top younger fighters from 168-175 to call them out since you make it seem like you're a champion or championship contender in those divisions.

He's in the same boat as Jermall Charlo and Terence Crawford! Do you recommend Crawford leave Top Rank and sign with PBC?
