Comments Thread For: Navarrete To Headline, Collazo-Benavidez To Be Rescheduled

Emanuel Navarrete is now the star attraction. The reigning super bantamweight titlist will headline the August 17 edition of Top Rank Boxing on ESPN as he faces unbeaten but unproven Francisco de Vaca. The bout was due to run in supporting capacity to a welterweight crossroads contest between Jose Benavidez Jr. and Luis Collazo, only for those plans to hit the scrap heap after Benavidez withdrew due to injury.

After de Vaca, Navarrete should go after Rey Vargas. Vaquero has a reach advantage, strong puncher, excellent conditioning, would give feather fisted Vargas problems

Benavidez was the most promising US prospect in the last decade aside from Shaukur Stevenson. I think he would beat Crawford of not for.having 1 leg fighting for only the 2nd time in a weight class and coming off a 3 year layoff.

Navarrete needs to go to featherweight. He is the king at his current division and has little to no money to make there. If he moves up he can make a nice paycheck vs frampton, Valdez, Russell, even Stevenson.
