This past Saturday night, at a hotel in the city of Osaka, Japan, there was a press conference in which the flamboyant "regular" middleweight champion of the World Boxing Association (WBA) and gold medalist in the 2012 London Olympics, Ryota Murata (15-2, 12KOs), discussed his revenge victory over Rob Brant.

Murata was winning but that was a bad stoppage by the ref.

Hard to believe Brant won the first fight, Murata is a bull, all those punches will catch up with him though.

that was an excellent win for Murata

he was totally gutted after the first fight

        the lesson.....

take your loss with honesty and humility, Murata admitted that Brant was better than him

"I’m really bad against boxers who are quick on their feet. I took a lot of blows,” Murata told reporters in Las Vegas. “It’s the first time I’ve taken such a beating.”

I don’t have any regrets because I have confidence in what I’ve done up to this point. Hopefully, when I look back at this in 10 years — or maybe even in one year — I’ll be glad I experienced a fight like this.

I wasn't sure an immediate rematch was a good idea, because of the manner of the loss..... but it was great for Murata to come back from that, he really is an outstanding young man

Murata has great insight into himself and a realistic view of opponents and boxing in general and because of that, a rare trait, he wins me as a fan since I had never been a fan till I saw how he looked at things and was humble and respectful and yeah, I am a fan now. And his performance was spectacular, something I didnt think he was capable of considering when he first turned pro, his punches were fat and he seemed uncoordinated. He has refined himself quite a bit.

How so? That was easily the longest opportunity for a response (which never came) I've seen a ref grant in recent memory. A lot of guys would have probably waived that in about half the time. Brant was getting thrashed.

Jeff Horn smiled. Jeff Horn farted. I farted. My glasses got bigger. We both barfed in unison, and it was normal.

Well said and agreed, wouldn't expect anything else from a Japanese warrior like Murata. Would love to see him against some of the top guys.
