Comments Thread For: Whyte Doesn't Regret Passing On Rematch After Joshua's Loss

Five weeks after his biggest potential payday went away, Dillian Whyte won't publicly lament his decision to pass on a rematch against Anthony Joshua. Whyte could've fought Joshua again April 13 at Wembley Stadium in London. The heavyweight contender passed, however, on what he considered an insufficient offer from promoter Eddie Hearn.

“Deontay Wilder was laughing,” Whyte said. “He’s ******, because that’s the big-money fight for him. Where else is he gonna get $100 million? He’ll probably have another 50 fights and not even make nowhere close to that.”

OK, you turned down a rematch with Joshua, to chase Deontay Wilder, yet he (Wilder) is the ****** one? Good luck with Oscar Rivas!

Whyte calls himself the "can man" any boxer who wants it CAN get it. HA!!! He turned down Joshua and Ortiz but he claims he'll fight anyone. Turning down reputable fights just shows you have no confidence in yourself and are scared to take another L...If the money isn't right??? If you're the best, then prove it and stop making excuses.

Beat the people they put in front of you, and the money will ALWAYS come afterwards. Boxers now have the mentality that they need the money before the glory. I get this is a dangerous sport, but when you have the opportunity to beat good fighters to show your worth STEP UP AND STOP WITH THE EXCUSES. Instead they want the big checks...JUST IN CASE they lose.

Regardless of his own ******ity, he has a point about the money. Unless Joshua wins spectacularly that money is likely gone forever. Tbh I still don't see him beating Ruiz, Ruiz looks like he is his boogey man. He has his number and I think it'll end the same way.

He'll fight anyone as long as they give him a decent contract.
He is a genuine fighter, he talks crap at times but he has been number one contender for over 500 days and yet still not been given his chance at a title shot.
He's beaten everyone they've put in front of him since the loss to AJ and earned that number one position and yet he still is asked to jump through hoops to get the title fight he has already earned.

Wilder should be forced to fight Whyte next, before the Fury rematch.

AJ was terrible that night, but he wasn't himself from the start. Ruiz isn't a problem if AJ can keep him at distance.
From the training videos, it seems Joshua is on the right track. He knows how to beat Ruiz, keep your distance and frustrate him.

Joshua put Ruiz on his arse for the first time in his career and had he backed off and taken his time he would have knocked Ruiz out, but he got over excited and jumped in too early.
I think AJ will be fine, he has a great attitude and will be determined to put things right.
