Comments Thread For: Hearn: I'll Be Absolutely ****ing Myself During Ruiz vs. Joshua II

Eddie Hearn, promoter for Anthony Joshua, feels confident that his boxer can turn back the tide to get revenge on Andy Ruiz. On June 1, Ruiz stopped Joshua in seven rounds to capture the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO heavyweight titles at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Every opponent Joshua fights he say's more or less the same thing......that's O.K. promoters do that but the truth is this is only for spots of 3 or 4 in the division. It's important to Hearn because Joshua's status in the heavyweights is at an all time low and should he lose the Hearns gravy train slows right down and Hearn and A.J. are out of the big picture. Out of the real big money.....that's why he's shyting himself.

Hearn needs to man up and stop behaving like a spoilt kid ....oh wait he is a spoilt kid.

Good luck to A.J. but the flaws are now all there to see.The longer the fight goes the less chance he has and we all saw what happens when A.J. unloads , he gets punchers back he can not defend.

Joshua carried himself very well after the fight no excuses and we like that but he'll need much, much more next time but i'm very happy with my 7/2 odds with Ruiz .

It's incredible how quickly fans turn on a fighter. Joshua himself admitted that he was looking toward the Wilder fight despite himself.

Not being focused is a terrible mistake in a fight against anybody. It pervasively affects your training, your conditioning and your mindset.

Joshua obviously didn't take Ruiz seriously enough because of the obvious rookie mistakes he was making against a fighter who has a higher than average ring IQ and punished him for it.

It reminds me a little of the LL v Hasim Rahman fights, where in the first fight, Lewis was far too lackadaisical and not taking Rahman seriously enough - then whammo - he was out before he knew what was happening.

The rematch will require IMO, A.J to work on his speed, combination punching including to the body, and tightening up his guard, especially keeping that chin tucked in.

On Ruiz's side, how many times have we seen an underdog upset the big dog and get caught up in all the hype, drama and attention that they have never dealt with before which leads to fractured training camps, too much celebrating and so on?

I get the feeling Ruiz will stay as focused as he can, but if A.J comes back into the second stanza focused, angry, in top condition and executes the right game plan, it may still be close but A.J ought to prevail.

No need to be anxious bud. Just get the same referee from Joshua Parker mmatch. who would keep jumping between then once Ruiz closes the gap and comes inside. and to be doubly sure just get one of the judges from the same match.
actually make 2 judges from that match and you are all set
It will be Ruiz vs Joshua + Referee+Judges.

Someone should film Eddie's face up close while he is watching the fight

                  Would be a good laugh

I find it funny boxing fans are naive enough to think promoters pick the refs and judges...they are selected by the commission and governing bodies sanctioning the fight. A team can object, but Hearn can't pick any particular ref or judge, no matter how much he might want to.
