Comments Thread For: Angel Acosta Plans To Pursue Immediate Rematch With Soto

As stunning as was Elwin Soto's unlikely junior flyweight title win on Friday, there wasn't anyone as shocked or outraged as was the man whom he dethroned. Angel Acosta saw his thrilling title reign come to a crashing-and controversial-halt following his 12th round stoppage loss to Mexico's Soto in their entertaining thriller Friday evening at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, Calif.

Should be a more thrilling rematch than the original. Soto knows he can catch Acosta and will most likely get him out a earlier.

Soto only has 22 years old

Onyl fought one time more of 6 rounds before the fight vs Acosta

Soto took all the power of , Acosta, Acosta cant handle the power of Soto

        They deserves more money

It was 59 times better than sh.its like Fury vs Klitschko or Parker vs Joshua

Soto and Navarette just came out of nowhere recently and now they have a bright future ahead of them and serious skills. They have that great combination of skills and excitement. Some of these fighters you never hear of them and then boom, they are on top of the world. Success stories. I am thoroughly sold on both from how they took leaps in competition and shined.

Acosta would have probably recovered. He was hurt worse earlier. Stoppage Was rediculuos. That said, DAZN is by far the best boxing platform. They put it down.

Watching the replay from the opposite angle, "alert" isn't the word that comes to mind when describing Acosta's condition. Soto had him badly staggered doing the chicken dance then nailed him with a few more shots along the ropes that caused him to lurch forward with his head downward and arms extended to his sides. A lot of times refs will step in when a fighter assumes that posture so I think people are exaggerating the controversy, although I wouldn't mind seeing it again.

But yeah, a lot of people are claiming the ref jumped in as soon as the first shot was landed, however, that's not the case. You could argue that he should have allowed Soto to continue battering him, but when you do the chicken dance then follow it up by that staggered/defenseless lurch refs look out for, you shouldn't be surprised by a stoppage.

To me, that is Mexican style. All these recent wins, especially Ruiz, were by under dogs. Almost nobody gave them a chance, 25-1 odds against, write ups like eulogies, and they come out with the lion's skin. The thing is, some people see these naked lions and say, that was never really a lion.
