Comments Thread For: Arreola: My Fight With Kownacki Will Be Talked About For Years

NEW YORK Chris Arreola can't see any way he and Adam Kownacki won't produce a fan-friendly heavyweight brawl August 3. Their styles seem perfectly suited for that type of scrap, a battle Arreola and Kownacki wish they could watch from ringside seats. Their 12-round fight will headline a "PBC On FOX" tripleheader at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

“Do you remember how terrible that Arreola v Kownacki fight a few years ago? It was terrible wasn’t it.”

Arreola is basically saying he's going to struggle. Hasn't got much confidence in himself.

Errol Spence Jr., Shawn Porter “finalize deal” for fall unification

                  Okay, for real this time.

IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. and WBC champion Shawn Porter have reportedly “finalized a deal” for a unification match sometime in the fall. According to the bit of The Athletic article above the paywall, it’s “possible” the fight will take place in September at Barclays Center.

The article also states that the August 3rd date fell through after Spence (25-0, 21 KO) “successfully argued that he’s a PPV fighter.” Which, y’know, good on him for knowing his value, but as a greedy and entitled consumer, I must condemn him for making my viewing of this fight slightly more difficult.

But hey, at least we have Adam Kownacki vs. Chris Arreola that day as a consolation prize, right?

Nothing much more to say about the fight that hasn’t already been said; Spence will be favored, as he would be against anyone in the division besides Terence Crawford, but Porter (30-2-1, 17 KO) is relentless and durable enough to at least make a fight of it.

No, this is not a good prize! We should've had Spence vs. Porter in a non-PPV fight on August 3rd! Spence is counting Mikey's numbers, at least I think he is! We'll soon find out!
