Golovkin has been speaking Russian exclusively lately and using someone else to interpret his Russian into English, but not when it comes to begging and trying to get people to pressure Canelo to give him a payday at the place of his choosing. He begs in English: "I want [the fight at MSG],” Golovkin said. “It’s different people, different atmosphere."

Mystified why people get so personally turned inside-out by these two, its just two boxers negotiating and trying to get the best for themselves.

If the fight happens, Canelo has greater negotiation leverage and things like location more likely decided by Canelo. Can't see the harm in Golovkin stating his preference - I think he slipped up saying he had bad feelings about Vegas though as that would encourage Canelo to go Vegas even more !

Absolutely - beyond all standards of common decency (defn. Beyond the pale) that Golovkin should express a preference.

Better question is why Canelo fought in MSG at all. Financially Vegas is usually the better deal, and no state tax helps. Only reason I can think is that MSG wanted it enough to outbid Vegas, and if MSG can do that, then they could possibly outbid Vegas for any Canelo/Golovkin III too.

I think if all else equal, Canelo would go Vegas, but I suspect just a question of who is the biggest bidder.
