Comments Thread For: Golovkin: I'm Ready For Canelo, Ready For September, I Want Him!

Former unified middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin insisted he is "ready" for a trilogy rematch with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez after making a devastating return to the ring in New York. Fighting for the first time since losing his belts to Canelo in September last year, Golovkin knocked out the previously undefeated Steve Rolls in the fourth round on Saturday.

    Tripple G,

If you do not come away with a KO, you will not win against Cannelo.
You should move on. Dont waste anymore time with this fight. You're not getting any younger. I wish Andre Ward was still around to give you a good thrashing.

The knockouts do return when you fight guys the calibre of Rolls.

Don't be so harsh, Rolls looks like he had some potential. It's a shame he was fed to GGG. They could have built him up and given him a fake belt like IBO and then let him cash out a bit more before retirement. He's in his mid 30s so he only has a couple of years left. His fatal flaw is the way he ducks, and leaves the side of his head unguarded. It was only a matter of time before Golovkin got the KO. He caught GGG with some really nice shots that would hurt most people and may even have KOd them. Unfortunately for him Golovkin has a chin of granite and just keeps waking you down.

Does he not know how to pronounce names other than Canelo or something?

Canelo beats Golovkin clearly in a third fight.

Given how hittable GGG was last night, he might even win by stoppage.

He's not a superstar like canelo or Joshua who can fill stadiums fighting nobodies. It'll be interesting to see if Joshua can still do it if he fails to win back his belts. GGG is a draw only with a decent opponent. I think like me, the vast majority of people have never heard of Rolls and promotion for the fight was pretty much non existent.

Last fight in MSG was with a NY local Jacobs though - would expect lower sales (and lower ticket prices) for a fight with a relatively unknown Canadian.
