  • Comments Thread For: Nathan Gorman Aims To Be The UK's Answer To Andy Ruiz

NATHAN GORMAN has been given further inspiration to beat Daniel Dubois by new world heavyweight champion, Andy Ruiz Jr. The Mexican looks out of shape, but that counted for nothing when he bludgeoned granite bodied Anthony Joshua to defeat in New York on Saturday night. Gorman who admits that like Ruiz Jr he isn't body beautiful either, challenges Dubois (11-0, 10KOs) for the vacant British heavyweight crown at The O2, London on Saturday July 13.

AJ should get a stay busy confidence fight in between the rematch. Maybe a David Price or Tom Little!

I would say Dave Allen but he might win.

I can think at least of 5 hw boxers who could (likely) defeat aj wo being Fury or Wilder. Allen is not among them, but others are (Hrgovic, Ajagba, Rivas, Yoka, Dychko).

Possibly also Gorman himself could defeat him.

We don't know the exact rematch clause, can only guess, but from past experience, doesn't a standard rematch clause prohibit Ruiz from fighting anyone else ? I would have thought that went both ways, ie if Joshua invokes the rematch clause, he can't fight anyone else either.

Wish we knew the exact wording.

Lol, fans are so fickle. He will mop the floor with all of them. He’s faster than all these slow bums and he fights comfortably against tall targets. All these guys are tall except Rivas.

Yoka doesn’t even have a chin and he was getting knocked unconscious with head guard on in the amateurs, lol.

Joyce and Dubois have both slept him in sparring. Based on Saturday night, he’s got no chance against either of them. Hopefully he just had a panic attack or something and isn’t just a big fraud. He looked uncomfortable from the moment he got in the ring.

I think Matchroom insisted on a U.K. rematch clause with a 50-50 split for AJ. Ruiz probably just signed happily at the time. Now he could be bigger than Canelo!
