Comments Thread For: Joshua: A Minor Setback; I've Dealt With Worse **** Than This

NEW YORK Anthony Joshua's message for those wondering why his first professional defeat didn't devastate him the way they expected is that he has dealt with worse things than this. The British superstar's seventh-round, technical-knockout loss cost him a huge payday for an eventual showdown with WBC champion Deontay Wilder. Allowing Andy Ruiz Jr. to stop him Saturday night damaged his expanding brand, too, but the former IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO champ took this shocking setback in stride.

I'm undecided whether he doesn't have the right mindset or is very balanced.

I would say it was more than a minor setback.

His career is arguably on the line if he loses the rematch, in terms of becoming a champ again anyway.

It’s not even like he just got wiped out with a shot. He got thoroughly outclassed from the start. He now has to go into a rematch with someone that might just be an absolutely awful style for him.

Hype job stiff robot got exposed by a fat dough boy. Seeing him quit in the corner was highlight, while Ruiz jumped and jiggled around the ring.

          Nah he's done.

It's clear this guy doesn't have it in him when it becomes a dog fight.

He smiled every single time he touched the canvas and touched gloves with Ruiz like they were friends every time the bell rung.

Dude has zero killer instinct in him.

Great champions like lewis and klitschko were knocked out by c level fighters. This could be a blessing in disguise. Quit the lucozade and underarmour adverts get a new trainer and lose some of that muscle which you have as a aesthetic

Two in shape guys (wilder and Joshua) get beat up by two out shape chubby boxers.

Ruiz was the best fighter yesterday. Joshua was dull, slow, unefficient. Ruiz had the 'eyes of the tiger' and was ready to die, in order to win. Plus he was fast as hell, despite his look.

AJ has always been considered like a robot for his style, but he suffers power punches. I now think that he wouldn't last 60 seconds against the same Wilder that ko'd Breazeale.
