  • Comments Thread For: Joshua Explains How Wilder-Ortiz Rematch Works in His Favor

Anthony Joshua has no problem with the recent news that WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder will face Luis Ortiz in a rematch. Wilder (41-0-1) had called for patience as fans demand a mouth-watering bout against WBA, IBF, IBO and WBO holder Joshua after needing just 137 seconds to knock out Dominic Breazeale earlier this month.

It also makes wilder and ortiz look. They rather duck aj and fight each other in a meaningless rematch

Wilder is doing A-joke a favor. He will knock out everyone around him not named Fury, in order to corner him into a fight.
        Plus Aj is lying...again.

Wilder seems to have had a 3 fight pbc deal signed already whilst talking bollocks

Of course we are gonna have to wait ... Kownacki next

          Fights not gonna happen

So you had no issues with AJ wanting to fight Miller instead of Wilder in his US debut? You had no issues with AJ fighting Povetkin after Wilder accepted the $15 million offer to fight him next?

Stop it it's dumb. Ortiz use to be AJ's mandatory and was signed with Matchroom why didn't AJ go after Ortiz then? All this bias talk is dumb when AJ, Berry and Eddie Hearn both said they have their own plan.

At least Wilder isn't lying saying we are trying to make the fight. He flat out said no fight unless it's 50/50. He isn't signing no multiple fight deals with ESPN or DAZN to make the fights. We all knew after Fury backed out of the rematch he was going to fight Breazele, Ortiz, and Adam (possibly).

Why all you AJ and Hearn fans can't seem to know which story is real? I thought Joshua was contractual to fight in Wimbly what happened to that? Just saying tell me when Hearn and AJ just state something and stick with it.

Wilder by KO again. Let's hope Ortiz can make it a good fight again but it looks like Wilder will win easier this time as he's improved and Ortiz has degraded

""We're risking our lives. The head is not meant to be hit in the first place so let us get our time to iron out all the differences and you guys will know when that happens."

Based on Wilder's quote from the article I believe I understand Wilder's strategy. Up to this point in his boxing career Wilder had avoided taking a lot of hard head shots. This is primarily because his fights usually end early and Fury was a pillowed fisted puncher. Ortiz briefly lit him up for one round so not too much damage there. So he fights Ortiz next and gets him out of there earlier than last time (much earlier) then it's on to another fight with pillow fisted Fury which would end by Wilder Knocking him out or against Kownacki who won't last very long. His nest fight is against AJ and it is a fight that win or lose gains him a fortune. He may take some serious punishment against AJ but when looked at in the contest of an entire boxing career his mental future still looks good. Win or lose, Wilder then retires, rich as hell.

Where did he say he was “grateful”? It was wilder who said “be patient”...something he said in an older interview where he basically openly said he “wasn’t interested” in fighting aj this year.
