  • Comments Thread For: Harrison Disappointed Detroit Isn't Site For Charlo Rematch

Winning the WBC super welterweight title has enabled Tony Harrison to help more people in his impoverished hometown over the past 4 months. His upset of Jermell Charlo on December 22 also has fattened Harrison's bank account. About the only thing that hasn't gone Harrison's way since he became a world champion is that he won't get the opportunity to defend his WBC 154-pound crown in his native Detroit.

That's my fear with Harrison winning the rematch: there is no way he goes into a unification with Hurd (I think Hurd will win a close fight on May 11th) prior to a hometown "soft" title defence. Can Hurd make 154lbs for another 8-12 months?
Tony will go to Haymon and say that "why can't I get a hometown title defence like everybody else" and I can't hate it for that, he'd have a point.

Harrison should be able to fight in Detroit, he’s the champ and they should give him the respect the champ deserves and let him fight in his home town, doesn’t make sense and they will sell more tickets in Detroit. Give this champ his respect!

Unfortunately for Harrison the money is behind Charlo, and the one with the most money almost always decides on the venue.

Their fight was in BK not Houston. I do t think either Charlo has fought in Houston yet and EJ just now getting Dallas. This another a real problem here

I like Harrison so I'm going to grant his wish if

he wins this fight II against Charlo I'm going to find Pipino Cuevas for a Detroit fight so he can look great!
