Jessie Vargas' (29-2-2) first fight of 2019 didn't start out the way that he had hoped. In the second round an accidental clash of heads against former champion Humberto Soto (69-10-2) opened up a nasty cut over the left eye of Vargas.

Smart move by Vargas! Munguia has many holes in his game!

I've recently said that I think Terence Crawford could beat Munguia @ 154! Bud should tell Arum to make it happen, enforcing his rights as WBO WW Champion! Arum could force Oscar to make a deal, or go to purse bid! Munguia is the kind of opponent Crawford needs! What does he have to lose? Floyd beat Oscar and Cotto @ 154, and they're levels above Munguia! Sugar ray beat Marvin Haggler at MW! Arum thinks Bud is the new SRL, so make the fight!

      .

Vargas can go kick rocks, either a Hogan rematch or Patrick Teixeira match is next for Munguia. Oscar better tell Hearn that if Jesse wants a shot @ the belt then Hearn better give Virgil Ortiz a shot @ Maurice Hooker or JoJo Diaz a shot @ Farmer. Munguia is too big of an asset for Golden Boy to risk putting him in there w/t a crafty veteran like Vargas @ this point in his career.

Smart move? Few weeks ago, I swear I could read people saying Vargas is too dumb to pursue a fight with Munguia cause he's too big and too powerful. A sudden change of opinion now? Hogan magic effect?

Mungia sucks. Any of the top 10 welterweights would take his belt.

I've never been a fan of Munguia, since the Sadam Ali fight! He's a tough kid, but his defense is horrible! I could say the same about Hurd too, but Hurd has more power than Munguia! However, I think Crawford could come in the ring at 160, and beat the brakes off him! I don't know if Jessie Vargas can beat him, but it would be a big fight for Vargas, and DAZN doesn't have much for Vargas @ 147 or 154!

Crawford would have to relinquish his belt at 147 in order to fight for the 154 belt and I just don't see that happening.
Plus there's no way Arum will go to a purse bid for a Munguia-Crawford fight. He won't risk losing and having Crawford fight on DAZN and Arum isn't gonna bid high cause Munguia will get a higher percentage than Crawford cause he's the champion. So I don't see them ever fighting...

That's a good suggestion as much as I want to see him and Spence fight. Crawford needs to explore other options. Spence had to figure it out before he got a belt and now he's in position to gain more leverage. Crawford is talented he can pull it off. And that will bring even more intrigue to the fight.

Are you sure? Zurdo Ramirez hasn't relinquished his title yet. Is it b/c he wasn't fighting for another title? If that's the case, then no way! I thought he could keep his title, like Mayweather and Canelo did!

Cmon jessie wont be able to keep munguia at a safe distance, his punches will have no effect on him, i agree Munguia sucks and has many holes in his game but he is a strong young kid, if a really old Humberto Soto could hit and hurt Jessie munguia will seriously damage him
