Comments Thread For: Amir Khan Probably Deserves a Little Less Scorn After 'Quitting'

"Quitter" is one of the dirtiest words in boxing. We admire fighters who "go out on their shield" rather than give up no matter the circumstances. In other words, we expect them to take a beating even if they have little to no chance of winning so no one will accuse them of cowardice. It's an unwritten rule, regardless of how unfair it might be.

Sorry but his reaction to brook quitting vs spence in a much more serious situation more than warrants the reaction he is getting now. He smiled and flat out called brook a quitter on TV following the fight, after brook had his face broken for the 2nd fight in a row and was risking possible blindness. Khan quit following an upper thigh shot. He deserves all of the scorn he's receiving.

Nah man, who paid you to write this article? Are you friends with Khan's PR person? Khan is arrogant as well as delusional. And not only did he quit, BUT the whole world has seen him blatantly duck Kell Brook for at least a decade. I'm forever grateful to Bud Crawford for putting Khan on a magic carpet ride to obscurity. Making him quit was the best possible scenario for boxing history, because he's already been knocked out b4. But his new label is something he'll always have, and people will always remember who did it. For the good of the universe, thanks, BUD!!!

Hard to argue with, a very solid point. Khan just tasting karma and his denial of the obvious quit job and carrying on about how he’ll always be in big fights and Thurman Pacquiao are contenders. And the brook fight “always there”
Sorry boxing scene, what goes around comes around.
He had no answers and literally bailed at the first opportunity he could.
And he is the type of guy that will want to believe his lie so much, he eventually will think of it as fact.

I never quit! I was pissing blood, I coulda been killed, the fight was turning!

Sounds like he’s got similar delusions as Charlie zelenoff and cant see himself in truth

I thought he quit and he quit after the 1st RD mentally. He did it just for the check that's why sometimes i don't feel sorry for some fighters when they get laid out.

That Canelo -Khan fight was a money grab. If there's too much Gap in talent and weight somebody will get hurt.

            He needs to retire.

Khan was just outclassed from the opening bell, hes never been outboxed thoroughly and beaten up round after round. In fights where he was hurt and showed guts he also happened to be winning, think Maidana and even the Garcia fight.
Khan has never been in that position where hes systemically getting dominated every round, he experienced it and he quit. Perhaps not quite the warrior everyone thought he was.

Quitting and cheating. Khan isn't a cheater, so there's that.

its a PPV so he made a lot of money. he didn't bother to take the full 5 minutes. he quit around 45 seconds after the low shot and stole the fans money simple and plain.
