INGLEWOOD - Super middleweight Anthony Sims, Jr. defeated Vaughn Alexander by unanimous decision over 10 rounds. Sims was taking a significant step-up in opposition as Alexander had fought better opposition and had not been stopped. The 24-year-old Sims, who is originally from Plainfield, Indiana and now lives and trains in the Los Angeles area, stood in the pocket with Alexander. Some of his punches strayed below the belt of Alexander, drawing an occasional warning from referee Thomas Taylor.

I felt it was a good fight. Vaughn Alexander is durable and solid and Sims has skill in there. It was a fight for the boxing throwback purists.
