Comments Thread For: Shields, Hammer Insist No Hard Feelings From Their Trash Talk

Whatever transpires this weekend, there has been plenty of entertainment value to be found in the buildup to the World middleweight championship showdown between Claressa Shields and Christina Hammer. The pair of unbeaten titlists have not shied away from taking shots at one another-whether on screen or through social media-ahead of their April 13 Showtime headliner in Atlantic City, New Jersey. While not necessarily all in good fun, the trash talk between the two also shouldn't be mistaken for deep-seated hatred.

I mean some trash talk is expected ITS A FIGHT, I mean it's not a sleepover lol Besides I don't always like when fighters are best friends it just seems awkward leading up to the fight

Anyway I'm glad there is no serious animosity going on.

Don't you wait until after the fight to say this? What is the point of trash talking to sell a fight but telling people that its all only to sell the fight BEFORE the fight actually happens? Yeah we know it's usually not real but some people buy into that or fighters wouldn't keep doing it. Me, I happen to like civility. So this is cool with me. Just seems like a bad strategy.
