Comments Thread For: Coldwell Very Impressed With Jordan Gill's Destructive Win

Barring Jordan Gill, Dave Coldwell was the happiest man in Peterborough last Saturday night as his featherweight charge produced a destructive performance. Opposed by Emmanuel Dominguez, Gill was expected to receive a tough outing against the Mexican veteran, but any indication that this was going to be a hard night were eradicated almost immediately as Gill blew away Dominguez in three one-sided rounds.

Wasn't planning on watching Gill but caught it in a bar by chance; he looked pretty decent, albeit against a guy who might be shopworn, although having said that, Navarrette's been the only guy to stop him. Think I'm right in saying that Gill's been fighting lots of 4/6-rounders since he turned 18, so he's probably got more power than his record suggests.

He looked good and had a good following too. Took his openings. Will be looking out for his progress now. Similarly wasn't planning on watching it and didn't then caught it on YouTube after as sky have uploaded that full fight and riakhpore vs McCarthy. Good scraps.

Frank Warren needs to understand that smaller shows like the JD next gen and his upcoming show at the royal Albert hall need some scraps with some relevance. A load of prospects vs no hopers doesn't interest anyone.

Surely a British title fight's on the cards this year.

Reminds me a bit of Josh Warrington. His record suggests weak punches but Selby and Frampton didn’t enjoy those punches at all.

Without doubt! Apparently Kiko has relinquished the EBU title, so what a match for the vacant belt!!...

I reckon so mate. Gill is looking technically class, and is starting to display some power now they've got him in fights scheduled for more than 4-6 rounds. Conlan is a gutsy brawler at heart, but his amateur record is also testament to his skills.
Either fighter vs Shakur Stevenson would be a good ranking fight as well, but I reckon that one may end up waiting until they're all in the mix for world titles.
