Comments Thread For: Canelo on Jacobs: We're The Two Best at 160 - That's The Truth!

WBC, WBA middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez views himself and Daniel Jacobs, who holds the IBF's world title, as the two best fighters in the middleweight division. They are set to collide, with all three belts at stake on May 4th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Canelo and Jacobs share a common opponent - former unified champion Gennady Golovkin.

I’m worried Hearn will not make the fight for Sept., for Canelo vs Andrade. Risky for Matchroom

gotta give canelo respect for taking on these tough challenges back to back, he probably has the best resume in boxing right now, from trout, lara, mayweather, GGG twice and now jacobs. i believe the winner should definitely fight andrade. does anyone know if andrade and saunders are fighting each other? that should be an excellent match up. i dont know how bill joe gets down to 160 but i hope he has one more fight left in that weight category and its against andrade. i love how the floyd era is over and all these great fighters are boxing each other in their prime. i was so sick of all the best boxers simply fighting for money and ducking each other for so long. im selfish, i like to watch the best fights, and after years of drought were finally getting these great matchups

          You sure about that Canelo

Because I think there was a certain fighter who beat both you guys just didn’t get the decision against you only because no one has yet to be judged fairly when fighting you.

So Canelo is the best at MW after fighting at the actual weight twice against GGG - and for the WBC MW title twice at catch weights around the JMW limit against Cotto and Khan.

His fight against a horribly weight drained JCC Jr @ 164.5 was a fight to acclimate to the MW limit.

I'm not dis*****g how great a fighter Alvarez is, he has come along in leaps and bounds - but also in his conduct as a businessman.

I don't think I've ever seen a fighter get such a quick pass and soft touch from a positive PED test, as well as his nuanced, refined Mayweather, approved cherry-picking system which includes making sure he's the house fighter, just ask GGG and Adelaide Byrd after their first fight.

Boxing fans have almost no sense of context and short term memories.

As Jor Jacobs, his resume is slightly better. Being a PBC fighter means he only had to fight once a year, and the only fighter's of note he has beaten at MW is Sergey Derevyanchenko, Peter Quillin and a few other fringe contenders.

Does he ( Canelo ) deserve praise for taking on Jacobs? IMO not really. Yes it's a dangerous fight but Canelo would be very confident of going the distance in this fight if he chooses, and if GGG couldn't finish him off, Alvarez has a great body attack that Golovkin has thrown out for awhile.

This, but GGG will be 37 in a few weeks so Canelo might be close to truth by now. Father Time still undefeated.
