He beat a shell of RJJ and edged out a controversial SD against a 43 year old B-Hop and still got dropped in both fights. Imagine Calzaghe against a prime RJJ😂😂

I’m actually a Calzaghe fan as well, I went to both the Lacy and Kessler fights amongst others. But I’m also not deluded, Calzaghe was a great fighter with a solid resume but prime B-Hop and certainly prime Roy were on a totally different level.

That yes, but Roid's fans act like he beat THE Hopkins that we all know. Bernard had a very different style and had not fully developed as a fighter yet at that point, so this makes RJJ's resume overrated.

But I will say that I won't discredit his win over James Toney like a lot of boxing fans tend to do.

Yeah prime Roy was on such a different level that he avoided Calzaghe at super middleweight and moved up and prime hop was on such a different level that he refused to even move up to super middleweight because Calzaghe was the king

Yeah that's true. That is a win that grew with time sort of like Salvador Sanchez vs. Azumah Nelson but I think based on the performances and styles that Nelson was more the real Azumah than the Jones-Hopkins I was of what Hopkins became.

I personally was not a fan of Jones. I did think he was awesome and he's the only boxer I ever felt was unbeatable. I know he wasn't but that's just how I felt. Of those guys Toney was my favorite by far. I strongly dislike Hopkins but I acknowledge he's great too.

I'm a big Calzaghe fan. Far bigger than I am a Jones fan but that just didn't happen. Jones was already moving up before Calzaghe had even won a title. You are right that Hopkins sort of sidestepped Calzaghe though. After he beat Trinidad, Hopkins was a headache. Thought he was worth 50/50 vs. Jones and was calling out Mayorga, Forrest, Mosley etc; Showtime did present him a great three fight deal which included being overpaid to fight Hakkar, then fight Harry Simon and finish with a Calzaghe fight for $6m which he asked for and then he just walked out on it and fought just twice in two years, with a faded Joppy being the best opponent. Hopkins also pretended he wanted to fight Toney and stalled it out and led Toney on that he'd fight him and also backed out on that too.

Yeah he moved up to take on the ancient mike McCallum and the incredibly elite Reggie Johnson.

Roy was a small 175lber and clearly didn’t want Dariuz so he avoided moving down to face Joe
