Comments Thread For: Erislandy Lara-Brian Castano: Known and Unknown

By Cliff Rold - Argentina's 29-year old Brian Castano (15-0, 11 KO) fell short of the Olympic dreams he had as an amateur. In the United States, he's largely an unknown commodity. That will change for the viewing audience Saturday (9 PM EST) when he steps into the main event spotlight on Showtime. While...

Castano is a live dog here imo
Also not sure how much Lara has left in him especially after that war with Hurd
Don’t think Castano can knock him out but can outbox him for sure

Good fight. Castaño 15-0 taking on a vet like Lara is obviously not promoted by top tank.

The style match up suits Lara. Will be interesting to see if Castaño can adjust if Lara is picking him off, be patient and not come forward. Make Lara come forward or entice him to engage, otherwise Lara is going outpoint you to a UD. This is not Castaño's style though, he's a come forward boxer puncher.

I hope the young prospect doesn't let himself down by fighting one dimensional and playing into the strengths of his opponent. I hope Lara plants his feet, sits down on his punches and uses upperbody movement rather than excessive footwork... I think that's wishful thinking though.

"What we don’t know about Lara is where he is after the grueling war with Hurd. At 35, and with a year out of the ring, is he refreshed or ready to be finished? Is Castano too young and hungry for Lara at this stage or is Lara still too slick, too experienced for the Argentine?"

That's what makes this fight so interesting! I've watched Castano fight Dervy and Vitu, but they're not Lara! I watched Hurd vs. Lara, and that didn't look like the Lara that fought Canelo! Great matchup! May the best man win! LET'S GO!

I see Castano a better and younger version of Angulo.
