  • Comments Thread For: Chris Eubank Jr. vs. James DeGale: Afterthoughts

There have been some great UK fights in the super middleweight division since the birth of the division in the 1980s. Saturday's was not one of them. Sometimes, a fight is just another fight for the viewers. For the fighters in the ring, it's always more than that. Chris Eubank Jr. needed a win a badly. So did James DeGale. In the end, Eubank's need was expressed in more punches of consequence in a fight where neither man seemed to consistently be able to find openings.

It was a lose-lose fight for both of them.

Degale win = Eubanks a bum
Eubank win = Degale is shot

Eubank should manage his next 2 years before taking on a top rated Brit. There’s stealable world titles out there like the WBC

I see your point but I dislike this mentality. Degale is definitely shot but it’s still a massive win for jnr. He showed improvement and I’ll givd him credit for that

You are wrong. Eubank isn't even a proper super-middleweight. Its a good win for him. I remember what people were saying before the fight. How Degale was going to outclass him with his skills etc

This puts him right back up there. Losing to Groves was also a great thing for him. He found out then that hardwork and determination aren't enough. He has a good future. It seems ridiculous now that people were saying he should retire after losing to Groves..

Eubank showed improvement even if Degale is shopworn at this point. There's some decent fights for him at Middleweight/Super Mid - hopefully we can get at least one this year.

I just ignore all the hate on Eubank jr. .. I know these fools see the mans potential.. but most just hate him bc he's not humble. Im a warrior.. I don't care about being humble... I JUST WANT THEM TO BE REAL. SAY EXACTLY HOW YOU FEEL. ALL YOU IDIOT'S OUT THERE.. EVERY FIGHTER IS A WARRIOR.. AN IT TAKES A CERTAIN LEVEL OF MADNESS TO DO THAT JOB.. SO.. JUST BECAUSE A FIGHTER SEEMS HUMBLE ON T.V.. DOESN’T NECESSARILY MEAN THAT'S HOW THEY FEEL INSIDE. SOME FIGHTERS ARE SO REAL.. THEY SPEAK THEIR MINDS. AN IT COMES OFF AS ****Y. BUT FROM A WARRIORS PERSPECTIVE.. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT'S IN THAT MANS HEAD.. OR WHAT LEVEL OF MADNESS HE IS ON.. EVEN IF U THINK HE IS A MAD MAN.. TAKE A CLUE FROM GAME OF THRONES.. "A MAD MAN SEES WHAT HE SEES" -NED STARK

I agree. I think Eubank will be a force at 160lbs. Fighters at 168 lbs even though he is the smaller fighterare very weary of how strong he is. At 160 he could bully those guys even though he can easily get his ears boxed off too. I like Eubank so I’m happy for him. Nobody has ever beaten Degale up the way Eubank did and it would have been worse if Degale did hold every minute

It’s a good win but not enough to prove his doubters wrong. He needs to beat BJS to do that.

I was gutted that they didn’t have Prince Naseem on commentary. He clearly lost money on Jnr vs Groves and I bet he backed Degale for this one.

I think he already beat him first time round, I had him by 2 points so I only consider him to have the 1 loss to Groves.

Everybody said before the Saunders fight that Eubank was too green and that proved to be the case as I think Eubank would have more clearly won had he got busy earlier in the fight. Saunders couldn't handle him in full flow and will never give him the rematch because he knows it.

What this win against DeGale has done is proven that Eubank can box at world level and isn't just a limited slugger. That would have been an emphatic beat down had DeGale not been in survival mode all night.
