  • Comments Thread For: Gilberto Ramirez to make 175-pound debut on Lomachenko-Crolla

In a recent article on BoxingScene.com, Jake Donovan reported that a purse bid had been avoided and that Vasiliy Lomachenko would defend his WBA/WBO lightweight titles against his WBA mandatory challenger Anthony Crolla. The fight will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and will stream live on ESPN+.

This is great news. Ramirez will be 175 champion soon believe me. He was too big for 168 it was hurting him to make the weight and it showed in the power department. But he is older now and at 175 he will be more comfortable and have more power and energy.

Here's hoping he does bring power up. He spent 39 fights in a weak division and is moving up the minute that Benividez is returning.

Would've been nice if he faced one of the top guys at 168 before moving up.

Zurdo is not scared of Benevidez.

This is literally what every single Top Rank fighter does if you haven't noticed.

Win the WBO title, make a few defenses against bums, move up and get an immediate shot at the WBO title against a weak cjampion in a higher division.

Unfortunately for Ramirez, Kovalev is the WBO champion and will literally eat him alive at 175. Therefore, Ramirez will likely wind up moving back down after this fight, which is actually just an excuse to get a tune up after twice going life and death against Jesse Hart.

Fighting someone he doesn't know of or much about isn't new to Zurdo. He had back to back fights with undefeated fighters from two sides of the world last year. Both of which there was very little film on to prepare for. That Angulo from Columbia probably hit harder than anybody he's going to face at 175. He adjusted well and got ripped apart by the commentating crew for not making a statement instead of praised for his adaptation and perseverance. I don't see anyone else in the division willing to call on Angulo after that. It seemed his promoter was trying to sabotage him instead of getting him a big name money fight he deserved. I have tremendous admiration for this kid and hope all these changes work out for the best. Maybe he's a little upset and if so GOOD! Can you imagine a pissed off Gillberto Rameriz? Kovalev will not want to lace up again after tasting that wrath! All the best to ya CHAMP!!

"eurobums" must fight champions, then unify belts, if they duck you then move up and fight champs the weight above, "great american fighters" can have a 10-rounder tune-up, not a big deal, then you come back to you weight

I think it says the fight is on the Loma-Crolla card on 4/12. Isn’t that like 7 weeks?
