Comments Thread For: If Not Commey, Loma Will Fight Someone Other Than Crolla Next

If the results of Richard Commey's upcoming MRI rule him out of an April 12 fight against Vasiliy Lomachenko, the WBA world lightweight champion still won't make a mandatory defense against Anthony Crolla in his next bout. BoxingScene.com has learned that if Commey cannot fight April 12 or somewhat soon thereafter, matchmakers for Bob Arum's Top Rank Inc. will start seeking an opponent other than Crolla for Lomachenko's next bout. A purse bid for the Lomachenko-Crolla contest is scheduled for February 13 at the WBA's headquarters in Panama City, Panama.

      That's exactly why.

Also, by fight on DAZN it would hurt his leverage for future fights.

Because then future opponents can say "Well you went to DAZN to fight Crolla why don't you come to Showtime/PBC to fight me?"

By being strictly on ESPN, he can avoid that.

I have absolutely no interest in seeing Loma toy with Crolla tbh. If he comes over to the UK a fight with Luke Campbell is much more interesting IMO

Fight Lopez! Or Berchelt/any other champion of 130. (just not any other fighter from 130, that would be bad).

Bum Arum at it again. He wouldn't allow to fight his mandatory because it will be broadcasted by DAZN and won't allow Loma to fight Mikey (Mikey said this 2 months ago in an interview about Loma and Bud) because Arum wants it on ESPN. Fck Arum ruining all the good fights.

GTFOH if you think Loma v Crolla is a good fight. It’s more WBA nonsense and Top Rank and Loma would be doing the right thing by dumping that belt and finding a more worthy opponent that would attract an audience. When you have someone at the highest level like Loma you need to look past the political BS that the sanctioning bodies pull. That belt and a defense against Crolla does nothing to advance his standing.

Is anyone here surprised. If Hearns wins the bid its going over seas and on DAZN. I doubt he wins it. Not sure what minimum bid is $100k just guessing Ill look into it. So that's 25K for the Challenger. Whooo hooo. Bob Eddie, WBA please make this go away this is cruel and unusual punishment for a long time fans of the sport.
