Comments Thread For: Gervonta Davis: Lomachenko Faced Smaller Guys More Than Once

Gervonta Davis has heard and read a lot of criticism about boxing a featherweight since Hugo Ruiz replaced Abner Mares as his opponent last week. Ruiz will move up four pounds, from 126 to 130, to challenge Davis for the unbeaten Baltimore southpaw's WBA "super" world super featherweight title Saturday night in Carson, California. Mexico's Ruiz fought at featherweight just 2 weeks ago, but at 5-feet-9, Ruiz stands four full inches taller than Davis, who would've owned a one-inch height edge against Mares.

The difference is they’re protecting you. Loma has faced stiffer competition which is all the fans want you to do.

Davis is a weight bully who got stripped of his title at 130. The fact that he still didnt move up afterward tells you all you need to know. He is scared to move to 135 where guys like Lopez, Commey, and Loma would be more than happy to kick his ass.

You don't believe Lopez beat davis... but yeah he's not moving up while Loma in the division. That division is going to get held down by Loma in the bear future.

Was Loma a weight bully at featherweight and super featherweight? Did you know that Davis came in at 129 for his last fight? Seems like more of an indication that he was unprofessional in 2017 and not that he struggles to make 130 but only stays to avoid Loma.

For the record, I do hope that Loma and Davis meet one day at 135 after Davis has established that he's head and shoulders above everyone at 130 and Loma deals with Mikey if Mikey comes back to 35.

I’d have to agree. I think fans just want to see more activity and at least one live body a year. But he could definitely start by upping that activity. If he fights Farmer by years end, he’ll be on his way to being who we expect him to be.

                Ruiz ain’t actually a featherweight. I think he’s a 122 who fought up once.

If you fail to make weight and dont move up you are a weight bully no different from Brandon Rios who failed to make weight twice at 135.

A Guy who comes in at 155 pounds fight night has no right to talk about facing smaller guys . Try fighting in your natural weight class weight bully
