  • Comments Thread For: Gervonta Davis Embraces Challenge of Fight in Mares' Backyard

After coming off a year that saw him land just one fight, Gervonta Davis was less interested in where his next fight would take place as much as it being the first of a much busier 2019 in-ring campaign. The unbeaten 24-year old from Baltimore, Md. will make the first defense of his second tour as a super featherweight titlist when he faces former three-division title claimant Abner Mares. Their Showtime-televised contest will take place February 9 in Carson, California, mere minutes from Mares' Los Angeles hometown.

I agree 100% I've always thought pbc and Al Haymon dont care about any Hispanic other than naming your first born after him. They don't even bring translators when Hispanics fight!

Apparently, this clown has called out Pac last night on twitter after Pac beat Broner. He must be hurt lol. On a serious note though, Pac, even at 40 would destroy this boy.

Yeah shame on Al Hayman for telling Mares and Garcia to call out fighters bigger then them. There are so many vids out there of Mares talking about how he's much happier at PBC then Golden Boy. Knock it off.

Mares is one of the only ones who trash talked Golden Boy. Mares is simply ungrateful.

Charlos, Spence, Jacob's, Porter, Quillin, Figaroa, and last week Broner have all said they made money with Golden Boy and that they were treated right. Everyone but Mares said it was nothing personal.

As a matter of fact most of the fighters Haymon stole were made stars by Golden Boy. FACTS

Except that both Mares and Garcia asked for these two upcoming fights.
