Comments Thread For: Garcia Aims To Prove He's 'Best Of Generation' By Beating Spence

Vasiliy Lomachenko and whomever emerges from the World Boxing Super Series' 140-pound tournament were Mikey Garcia's obvious options. After a 2-year layoff cost Garcia an important part of his physical prime, the undefeated four-division champion just didn't want to waste any more of his time. Rather than waiting for Lomachenko or the WBSS winner to agree to fight him, Garcia instead embraced just about the biggest challenge, literally and figuratively, that he could find.

Spence looks like the goods, but can we be honest and say that he is largely unproven? Kell Brook and Lamont Peterson. They are good wins, but I would still like to see him against like sized top talent.

      God bless Mikey.

Honestly, if Mikey was more around the size of Spence, I would have no problem picking him over Spence and saying that Spence was going to have a real hard time. The size difference is seriously the biggest advantage Spence has going in here and why it's so hard to pick Mikey. Power for power in their own divisions, they have to be about equal.

I think Mikey is a more all rounded fighter than Spence but the size, yeaah, it's gonna be hard to overcome.

You don't think Kell is like sized top talent? He fought a great fight until he got broken down from Spence's pressure.

Beating Spence wouldnt be enough to put him on that status considering Spence has only one notable name on his resume.

For me, if Garcia beats Spence that takes him from elite to Legend status.

If Mikey wins, is he P4P #1? This fight is #3 vs. #9! I don't think Crawford has faced anyone ranked that high on the P4P list! I think Loma has, beating GRJ and Rigo. We know Canelo has too. If Mikey wins, I have to put him over Crawford, wherever that may be!

It's going to be tough but Garcia is one of the best and more skillful than the other Garcia, Danny. He does have some chance to pull it off, after all he's not fighting a Thomas Hearns killer, but Spence is really good of course.

I'm still a bit upset about how far this fight is away from now even because I'm just so ready for it to be over. imo Mikey gets KTFO in under 6 rds and that's the end of it, point blank period.

He talks about how easy the fight was to make yet he's been calling for a fight with Spence since last summer and we have to wait until March for a fight that should've happened last month...
