Comments Thread For: Chisora, Haye Back Whyte: He Deserves World Title Shot

Dillian Whyte is pushing hard to land a world title shot in his next ring appearance. For the last two years, Whyte has been trying to face WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder or unified IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO champion Anthony Joshua. In 2018, Whyte had a banner year with big victories over Lucas Browne, Joseph Parker and Dereck Chisora.

He obviously deserves it. Compare his recent resume to "saint" Luis Ortiz and you can't even compare.

I want fury or Wilder but it won't happen for obvious reasons and this is basically the best avaliable fight for AJ in the meantime unless they can get klitschko out of retirement

He needs to fight Ortiz or Miller to earn his shot

Quite simply, 3 into 2 doesn’t go, whatever happens with Fury / Wilder / Joshua, the odd man out should fight Whyte.

I don’t get the arguments for Whyte “needing” to fight anyone else to get a title shot, he’s done more than any of the other contenders in recent years - his recent resume is much better than that of Ortiz / Breazeale etc.

Why? What is so special about those two? Why are they gatekeepers? Whyte deserved a shot, couldn't agree more with the article. I doubt he will beat either AJ or Wilder, but he will give them hell of a fight.

Ortiz and Miller need to fight each other: as stated Whyte has done more than enough. As well as facing good opposition he has brought in big money for himself and Ortiz wanted some of that. Whyte did not go backwards after the loss to AJ he kept fighting good quality HW's. Now Ortiz basically just fought two easy stay busy fights. Miller and Ortiz would gain respect if they fought each other, but the money is not there and no guarantee it will lead to a title fight quicker; hence why fighting Whyte brings them so much more, but does not bring Whyte anything except a difficult fight. There is no ducking of Ortiz there is just nothing for Whyte to gain by fighting him, after Breazeale he will be next for Wilder even though he should be mandatory now. Also if Wilder does not want the big fight with AJ he will get the AJ fight. Ortiz needs to find his own route, Miller has a chance as a possible USA fight for AJ as he is made to measure for AJ,he throws lots of punches but is big slow and easy to hit. So unless AJ runs out of energy hitting his melon head he should knock him out: at worse jab jab hold all night and win on points...

Ortiz has not won anybody to deserve a shot. I rather see Whyte-Breazeale than Ortiz. Fanboys wanna use use Ortiz to assess Whyte's shot at Wilder.

And why is that? What have they done that he needs to go through them?
