  • Comments Thread For: David Benavidez: I Know I Have What it Takes To Beat Canelo!

Unbeaten former 168-pound champion David Benavidez said "I know I have what it takes" to win an all-Mexican clash with newly-crowned WBA "regular" champion Canelo Alvarez, who earned his third crown in as many divisions with Saturday's four-knockdown, third-round KO that dethroned Rocky Fielding of England while retaining his pair of 160-pound titles.

CAnelo implemented some GGG moves in his game
Like he did with some Floyd and Lara moves
Canelo has all the upgrades and all the cheats available

I would like to see D. Benavidez, Uzcategi and Smith and 1 other top 168 pounder have a mini Tournament.

I did not put Gilberto Ramirez in it because I read he is moving up to 175 to Fight Gvodzyk next.

I can only speak for myself but that would be a fantastic fight hell yes. He rolled right through Fielding no problem but the top Super Middles are better than that. Though the division isnt deep in top quality talent theres a couple of real good ones at the top and these are big guys, Canelos losing alot of ground in reach against some of these guys. But he is more talented than the lot of them.

But fighters can go up through the weights but on pure physical dimensions they hit their limit. Id say 160 was really his limit, he beat Fielding but it can get harder than that. He may even vacate it and choose to stay at 160 and i wouldnt blame him.

David Benavidez vs Jose Uzcategui is the fight to make at 168! That could be HUGE and just a WAR stylistically

I doubt Canelo will fight any of the top 168 pounders. They are just too big. Give Mungia a few more fights and if he keeps winning then an all Mexican war would be intriguing!
